Nathaniel Running the City to the Sea Half Marathon in San Luis Obispo, October 2015

Nathaniel Perry is a busy and talented guy!

He likes to play Nerf wars with his neighborhood friends. He enjoys riding his bike and skateboard. He takes piano lessons and plays trumpet in his school band at Valley View Adventist Academy. Three days a week, he trains in gymnastics at the Central Coast Gymnastics Sports Center. In July of 2015 he qualified for and competed at the T&T Gymnastics National Championships in Ft. Worth, TX. And in October of 2015 he ran his first half marathon and finished in just over two hours! Whew…

In September, Nathaniel saw a vintage video on YouTube of a white guy in an afro painting mountains and happy little trees. He was hooked!

He wanted to paint along with Bob Ross, but only had kid paints and kid paintbrushes. When we found out he was serious, we started looking around and bought some supplies on Amazon (this art stuff is expensive!). The big breakthrough happened when a local artist was moving away and sold us “a thousand dollars worth of oil paints” for $40.

Since then, Nathaniel wants to spend Sundays and free evenings painting in his makeshift studio in the garage.

Be sure to check out his online gallery. And feel free to drop him a line. He’d love to hear from you!

Thanks for visiting.
